Amphitheater to Host Community Concerts

May 29th, 2024 – Fremont’s Community Concert Series has found a new home at the Downtown Amphitheater. With construction of the Amphitheater completed, the City of Fremont has made it’s first big splash in bringing events and concerts to the new venue by announcing the relocation of the Community Concerts from Birchard Park. Admission to the Community Concerts will remain free. Many familiar performances will be gracing the stage during this years series.

Fremont Rotarians and Elected Officials cut the Ribbon on the new Downtown Amphitheater during a dedication event hosted by the Rotary Club of Fremont, Ohio.

Mayor Danny Sanchez said that the Amphitheater project was intended to significantly enhance the city’s downtown area and create a space where people can gather to enjoy one-of-a-kind events, such as concerts. “We are beyond excited about unveiling this long-awaited addition to Fremont residents,” Sanchez said.

Performers scheduled for this years Concert Series are also excited about the opportunity to play at the new Amphitheater. Tim Ellenberger, of Sea Jamz 7, recently performed at the Amphitheater during the Fremont Rotary Club’s ribbon cutting event. After their performance at the Amphitheater, Ellenberger said that Sea Jamz 7 is looking forward to returning and the venue is at the top of their list. “In the heart of the downtown community, it provides a great stage to be on with very easy access,” Ellenberger said. The atmosphere allows for close contact to the audience, a beautiful setting, and the opportunity to visit local establishments according to Ellenberger. “I’m looking forward to not only the next opportunity to perform but, also to get to the amphitheater and enjoy the entertainment as a part of the audience!” Ellenberger told us.

The 2024 Community Concert Series will begin on Sunday, June 9th with a performance from Stranger Than Fiction, sponsored by Fremont Federal Credit Union. All of the events in the Community Concert Series will begin at 7:00pm. In addition to Stranger Than Fiction, the rest of the concert series includes performances by: Jim Sleek & The House Band, Sea Jamz 7, The North Coast Concert Band, Sax Machine, Andrew Dean, Dana Dorsey & The “Blue Notes”, and Ridin’ Shotgun.

The City Recreation Department has also announced a new partnership with Terra State Community College and students from the Music Technology program. Students will get hands on experience assisting performers with sound checks and coordinating live music events. “This is a great opportunity for the City to provide learning experiences for Terra Students,” according to Recreation Superintendent Cody Bischoff. The internship program has been provided funding through the generous donations of a community member.
